The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a set of prayers specific to this devotion. It is usually prayed at 3:00 p.m.—the hour of Jesus' death—using the beads of the Holy Rosary, but with prayers that differ from the usual ones.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

In her diary, Saint Faustina Kowalska recorded several powerful promises that Jesus made to those who practice the Divine Mercy devotion. These promises are generally categorized by the specific way the devotion is practiced.

1. Promises for Praying the Chaplet

The Chaplet is the central prayer of this devotion. Jesus made several promises regarding its recitation:

Protection at Death: Jesus promised to defend as His "own glory" every soul that says the chaplet at the hour of death.

Hope for Sinners: He said that even the most hardened sinner, if they recite the chaplet only once, will receive grace from His infinite mercy.

Intercession for the Dying: When the chaplet is said in the presence of the dying, Jesus promised to stand between His Father and the dying person, not as a "Just Judge," but as a "Merciful Savior."

Answered Prayers: Jesus stated, "It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet," provided the request is compatible with His will.

2. Promises for the Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday)

This feast is celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. The primary promise is:

Complete Forgiveness: The soul that goes to Confession and receives Holy Communion on this day shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. This is often described as a "second baptism" because it wipes away both the guilt and the temporal punishment due to sin.

3. Promises for Venerating the Image

Jesus instructed Faustina to have an image painted with the signature: "Jesus, I trust in You."

Victory over Enemies: He promised that the soul who venerates this image will not perish and will have victory over its enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death.

4. The Hour of Mercy (3:00 p.m.)

Regarding the hour of His death, Jesus told Faustina:

Refusal of Nothing: He promised that in this hour, He would refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Him in virtue of His Passion. It is a time to immerse oneself in His mercy, particularly for the sake of sinners.

5. Spreading the Devotion

For those who actively promote the message of Divine Mercy:

Maternal Care: Jesus promised to protect these souls throughout their lives as a "loving mother protects her baby."

Grace for Priests: To priests who proclaim His mercy, He promised to give "wondrous power," anointing their words so they may touch the hearts of those they speak to.
